There isn’t a scripture today, this is just me coming to you guys about a plague that attacks alot of us. It’s Called Selfishness, some of us don’t even realize that we have it. Whenever you are more concerned about your own outcome and not the outcome of others, that is called selfishness. My opinion; it’s not a great thing, It’s familiar to a lot of us but It’s not healthy.
I can say thank God Jesus wasn’t selfish, could you imagine, we would still be living by the Laws that is in the book of Leviticus with no redemption. To be a victim of the selfish behavior is pain full. You wonder what did you do to deserve someone to be so nasty to you.
Today I was given the opportunity by God to experience the selfishness from the outside.
At work we had too many fruit cups. At first lunch ( 6th grade lunch), a child asked me if they could have two strawberry cups( actually the child from my Our Children blog, Student 1). I told him yes, and to get it from my line.
He went to my supervisors line. She rushed over to me and asked, if I told the child he could have two strawberries. I said yes. (Mind you she just finished saying that the manager said we are going to have to through out the pears at the end of the day, my line had 43 pear cups, and 46 Strawberry cups.)she continues to tell me she already sold half her case I walked in to the kitchen and saw that she hadn’t sold as many as she said, My spirit told me to unselfishly give her my box of strawberries my line will be fine with out. and it was, most of my children took corn.
well this is how my Lord and savior works, at the end of the day she had more strawberry cups then she could handle. even trying to give them away to the eighth graders she still had more strawberry cups then I threw away pears. I threw away about 30 pears. she also asked me at the end of the day if my children would eat them. I responded, they will be fine without them. I hope she learned the lesson on selfishness, and what ends up happening to a glutton. I’m sure when she realized what she did it weighed on her mind. but that is for the Lord to handle
Everyone be careful how you treat people, the child most likely was hungry, yet greed stopped him from being full or satisfied. We don’t know what people go through at home or in there minds what kind of mental distress their going through. Treat people how you would expect Jesus to treat you. Selfishness can break a fragile heart.
