Jonah Chapter 3

Blessings Everyone!

I pray that you all are being Obedient in what thus says the Lord our God concerning you.

This third chapter in the book of Jonah had me realizing a thing or two about how big our brains make things seem. We will talk ourselves out of doing something great in a micro minute, just because fear jumped in. That feeling of being unworthy can choke the life out of your purpose.

I can only assume that it was fear of something that kept Jonah out of Ninevah. He might have feared that no one would listen to him or he could have feared being over turned by the wickedness. That fear took him straight in to disobedience right into the belly of the great fish.

Jonah Chapter 3

Jonah goes to Ninevah

The chapter starts off by saying; The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time. The Lord told Jonah to go to Ninevah and deliver the message He game him the first time.

This time Jonah was obedient. The word tells us that Ninevah was a very large city and it took three days to go through. On the first day in Jonah began proclaiming what the Lord said which was in forty days the city of Ninevah will be overthrown.

The people of Ninevah believed God, they started to fast and put on sackcloth from the youngest to the oldest, from the richest to the poorest.

I couldn’t help but notice all the trouble Jonah caused himself, being in the belly of a great fish for three days and three nights and his task was so easy.

We are just like that, God gives us an assignment and we run from it. we keep running into barriers, we find our =selves stuck in the tornado’s of crazy life lessons. Then we find out the thing that we were so afraid of the thing that the Lord had shifted us to go wasn’t that bad, it was actually the easiest thing to do.

For Jonah the people believed the message he had from God, they went right to repenting and mourning.

verse 6-10

The word says when Jonah’s message reached the king. The king took off his robes and put on sackcloth, the word says that the king sat down in the dirt. The king issued a proclamation;

Everyone and thing is not to eat or drink anything. Everyone should be covered with sackcloth and everyone should be in fervent prayer. The king proclaimed that everyone was to loose themselves from their evil ways and violence. He told the people to hope that God has compassion on them and that they will not perish. The word says that when God saw their action and how they turned from their evil ways , he relented and didn’t bring them the destruction that He threatened them with.

We serve a forgiving God, the Lord sent Jonah with a warning. Even though Jonah was disobedient he still ended up being reminded of the assignment over his life.

Because Jonah walked in his assignment people lived, lives were spared and sins were forgiven.

No matter ho you feel about a person or a people, your main concern should be what God has called you to do. What you have is set up to save someones life.

Listen! if you know that you have a purpose on your life, if you have a feeling like there is something is calling you, it’s time to get instruction from the creator . Turn your bible to Romans 10:9 Believe in your heart and with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and died for our sins and on the third day God raised him with POWER that you shall be saved.
