1 Samuel Chapter 5

1-samuel-1024x576the Ark in Ashdod and Ekron

verse 1 -5

The Philistines took the Ark to Ashdod and the put it in Dagons temple. the scripture says that the next morning Dagon had fallen  on his face in front of the Ark. They placed Dagon back in his place and the next day he had fallen again this time his head and hands had been broken off and placed on the threshold. The scipture says that no one steps on the threshold in Dagons temple.

Praise God! to put a representative of God in a place where you worship Idols, no way your coming back from that. As I was reading this word I thought about how it is not good to  sit on the fence when it comes to our walk with God. We can’t be out to serve God and walk with him and do the things that the Lord is not for. I remember when I first started this walk and I was still smoking and drinking wine, I one day had a vision of the holy spirit leaving me because I couldn’t let go of the cigarettes I was placing the cigarettes (my idol) over God and forcing God to be around it. Then I prayed for the need for it to be broken from my spirit and that’s exactly what happen. The next day the desire for the cigarettes were gone. When we idolize something and put it before God, our faith and need to be pleasing to God allows the spirit to come and break that thing. it’s built on a foundation of faith that he is able. The fact that the Philistines feared God was acknowledgment that they had faith that he does exist, and can destroy them.

verse 6 – 12

While the Ark of God was in Ashdod the hand of God was heavy on the people. Some ended up with tumors and others died so they decided to move it to Gath. In Gath it did the same, so the people got together with the elders and they decided to take it to Ekron when the people of Ekron saw that the Ark was coming and there was an out cry. The elders decided to send the Ark back. The people of Gath, Ekron, and Ashdod died and for those who didn’t die they suffered with tumors. The cry went up to heaven.

This chapter makes me think of the power of God in chapter four yesterday we saw that when the Israelites learned that the Ark had been captured the suffered an outcry. Eli and his family suffered death, they felt that God had left them. depending on the power of God as christians when we fell he’s not around we feel lost like Israelites. Now for the Philistines they worshipped Dagon and feared God The power that the Ark had on them was afflicting tumors and death. They new they were doing wrong taking the Ark of God, and almost expected repercussions.

Now for the Important part if you are looking for Salvation if you will like to start a new and be in the presence of God turn your bible, google, or download the free bible app and turn to Romans 10:9 Confess with your mouth that Jesus christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. start a prayer life and get in to the word and allow the Lord to turn it around for you.

Acts 3:11-26New International Version (NIV)

Peter Speaks to the Onlookers

11 While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade. 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. 14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. 16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.

17 “Now, fellow Israelites, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. 18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer. 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. 21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. 22 For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. 23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.’[a]

24 “Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days. 25 And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’[b] 26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

Peter says in Solomon’s colonnade, Men of Israel why are you surprised like it was us with the power of godliness, that made this man walk. It was Jesus who you all murdered. The God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant, and you disowned him before Pilate though he wanted to let him go. you killed the author of life but God raised him from the dead. We are witness to this. It is by faith in Jesus Christ this man is healed, as you can see

He goes on to say, even though you acted with ignorance and so did your leaders. But this is how God fulfilled what he said would happen through the prophets. when he said that his Christ would suffer. He then tells the Israelites that they needed to repent so that their sins could be wiped out, refreshing will come from the Lord , He will send Christ who has been appointed for you

ap·point·ed
əˈpoin(t)əd/
adjective
adjective: appointed
  1. 1.
(of a time or place) decided on beforehand; designated.
“she arrived at the appointed time”
synonyms: scheduled, arranged, prearranged, specified, decided, agreed, determined, assigned, designated, allotted, set, fixed, chosen, established, settled, preordained, ordained, prescribed, decreed

    “at the appointed time”

I thought we might go over the word appointed. I do that when I study, yes vocabulary words. lol

Then the scripture goes on to state that Christ will be in Heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything. as he promised long ago , through Moses.

Peter than informs the Israelites that they were the heir of the prophets, and the covenant that God had with Abraham. Also that was all people on the earth will be blessed, he tells them when God sent his servant, he sent him first to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.

Amazing faith is what we as Christians rely on to get us through our day. Faith is what allowed the beggar to be able to walk . What is amazing is that even though Peter says this is what you did to Gods servant Jesus, you still can repent and his spirit will still come down upon you. because had you not done what you did the Prophets message wouldn’t have come to pass and we would not be heirs. we are blessed because of Jesus

Praise God, for his unselfish and unchanging love. we are reminded that there is power in the name of Jesus. supernatural. God is so amazing he will shift for the faithful.

If there is anyone out there looking for the Lord, he has been waiting for you, Confess with your mouth and your heart that Jesus died for your sins, that Jesus is the Son Of The Living God. Turn your bible to Romans 10:9 -13, get yourself in a bible based church and start your fellowship with the one who loves you.

Acts 3:1-10New International Version (NIV)

Peter Heals a Lame Beggar

One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.

Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

th

So let’s talk about this scripture, I was screaming when  I read this. Yes walk, let me tell you. Studying the book of acts we learn that the apostles and disciples prayed continuously, they had morning prayer they had 3pm prayer and evening prayer and praise God all day. they also where the witnesses to the Baptism, the Crucifixion, the rising and the ascending of Christ. So we would say that they were his witnesses. this is also after the apostles where baptized  with the holy spirit and given the gift of speaking in Tongues, you know the part where the tongues of fire splits and rests on each of them (Acts 2:4)

Peter and John were going into the temple, and a cripple beggar was headed there to beg in front of the temple gate called beautiful, this is where he begged everyday. (most likely earning his keep in his house hold). The cripple man sees peter, and asks him and John for some money. Peter says to the man “Look at me”. I don’ have silver or Gold but I can give you Jesus of Nazareth, walk. Peter and John helped the man to is feet and his ankles and feet became strong. He Jumped to his feet and began to walk. he went in to the temple with them jumping and walking and praising God. The people saw the man and recognized the man as the cripple man who beg in front of Beautiful. and they were amazed at what happened to him.

This scripture is a true meaning of a faith scripture. Peter and John believed in the power of Jesus Christ, they were just with him for 40 days after he was crucified, they just watched him go up into a cloud, and because they had faith in Jesus, and Loved Jesus, The Holy spirit moved through them and they were able to show the amazing miracles in  Jesus Christ name.

Today we don’t see miracles like that everyday, but we do see small miracles that lets us know that God is paying attention and he’s covering us. I would say get in to prayer, praise his name all day and you will see a shift. don’t hold on to your sin, ask for forgiveness, and know he forgives you. Every time you feel your self thinking too hard on something that you shouldn’t be doing, Just begin to praise his name. you’ll be able to see a supernatural shift. Some of us are stuck doing the same thing; forgetting to walk, or trying something new. You will be successful at that something. people will look at you in amazement because they saw where you were and they see where you are. You just have to see yourself there you just have to Walk, Jump and then Praise the Lord for your shift, praise him for his purpose, and his love, and his mercy’s. Thanks

Be Blessed everyone until next time

Acts 2:46-47New International Version (NIV)

46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being said

This scripture in Acts speaks about After  Jesus ascended into heaven and Peter and the rest of the Disciples received the gift of speaking in tongues.(happy Pentecost) after the Pentecost the church began to grow. they ate together in fellowship, and praised God together and for that the Lord added in their numbers of people in Christ.

tumblr_ma736q6b611r2pbs7

I didn’t pick this scripture I was brought to the book of Acts and that’s what I am studying. This scripture jumped up at me, while reading the book. It points  out a lot of things when it comes to togetherness. Yesterday Journey in praise the declaration was. I will be affectionate to others today, always showing brotherly love.

We need that, we need to be loving toward one another, we walk past each other without  even  a friendly jester. Where is the love, where is the fellowship, where is the encouragement. we should try to do better, with how we treat one another.Lets show the Joy of God’s good graces. Lets pass it on. Angry people raise angry children who are just angry because that’s what they saw. They begin to think happy Jesus freaks like me are crazzzzyyy.!!!!!!

Be Blessed everyone until next time
