Judges Chapter 7
Hey Everyone,
I Pray that you all are having a wonderful Monday. today I am concluding Gideon I want to encourage you guys to open you bibles and peek inside the book of Judges. Ok Praise God. Now for those who don’t know, My name is Wilhelmina Lundy that’s pronounced Wil-a-mena Lun-dee and I am a Woman of God, a Blogger, a periscope host and an online business owner and I am here to spread Gods word to you and sprinkle some of Jesus’s Love all over the internet. Ok we left off at the close of chapter 6 in judges
Judges 7New International Version (NIV)
Gideon Defeats the Midianites
7 Early in the morning, Jerub-Baal (that is, Gideon) and all his men camped at the spring of Harod. The camp of Midian was north of them in the valley near the hill of Moreh. 2 The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me.’ 3 Now announce to the army, ‘Anyone who trembles with fear may turn back and leave Mount Gilead.’” So twenty-two thousand men left, while ten thousand remained.
4 But the Lord said to Gideon, “There are still too many men. Take them down to the water, and I will thin them out for you there. If I say, ‘This one shall go with you,’ he shall go; but if I say, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.”
5 So Gideon took the men down to the water. There the Lord told him, “Separate those who lap the water with their tongues as a dog laps from those who kneel down to drink.” 6 Three hundred of them drank from cupped hands, lapping like dogs. All the rest got down on their knees to drink.
7 The Lord said to Gideon, “With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the others go home.” 8 So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites home but kept the three hundred, who took over the provisions and trumpets of the others.
Now the camp of Midian lay below him in the valley. 9 During that night the Lord said to Gideon, “Get up, go down against the camp, because I am going to give it into your hands. 10 If you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah 11 and listen to what they are saying. Afterward, you will be encouraged to attack the camp.” So he and Purah his servant went down to the outposts of the camp. 12 The Midianites, the Amalekites and all the other eastern peoples had settled in the valley, thick as locusts. Their camels could no more be counted than the sand on the seashore.
13 Gideon arrived just as a man was telling a friend his dream. “I had a dream,” he was saying. “A round loaf of barley bread came tumbling into the Midianite camp. It struck the tent with such force that the tent overturned and collapsed.”
14 His friend responded, “This can be nothing other than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite. God has given the Midianites and the whole camp into his hands.”
15 When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he bowed down and worshiped. He returned to the camp of Israel and called out, “Get up! The Lord has given the Midianite camp into your hands.” 16 Dividing the three hundred men into three companies, he placed trumpets and empty jars in the hands of all of them, with torches inside.
17 “Watch me,” he told them. “Follow my lead. When I get to the edge of the camp, do exactly as I do. 18 When I and all who are with me blow our trumpets, then from all around the camp blow yours and shout, ‘For theLord and for Gideon.’”
19 Gideon and the hundred men with him reached the edge of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just after they had changed the guard. They blew their trumpets and broke the jars that were in their hands. 20 The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” 21 While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled.
22 When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the Lord caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. The army fled to Beth Shittah toward Zererah as far as the border of Abel Meholahnear Tabbath. 23 Israelites from Naphtali, Asher and all Manasseh were called out, and they pursued the Midianites. 24 Gideon sent messengers throughout the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against the Midianites and seize the waters of the Jordan ahead of them as far as Beth Barah.”
Gideon was afraid but he knew that God was with him. The spirit of the Lord told Gideon he had too many men, the lord to Gideon to remove 2 groups of men. Then the Lord told Gideon to go down to the Midian camp and because it was now the time that the Lord would give Gideon the victory so the Lords spirit says to Gideon if your afraid take your servant Purah and listen to them you’ll be encouraged.
Even when God has a purpose for us and we are afraid he’ll reassure us to give the confidence just as he did Gideon.
When Gideon arrived down to the camp he eased dropped on the Midian soldiers he heard one of the men telling the other about a dream he had where a barley Bread came rolling down the hill and struck the tent with such force.
The friend interpret the dream telling the man what that his dream meant that God will give the whole camp to Gideon’s hand, When Gideon heard this he was confident, he worshiped God.
Gideon made it back to the camp and gathered his men , he told them to follow him when he blows the trumpet. when the Trumpets sounded God made the Midianites to turn their swords against each other
The army ran but Gideon sent message to the Israelites to stop them. They captured the leaders Oreb was killed at Rock Oreb and Zeleb was killed at the winepress Zeleb.
When your about to go on a Journey that scares you think of Gideon anything that God sees as good for you will be accomplished. Through faith and obedience which was taught here through Gideon, he obeyed the Lord and built up an altar to God after broke down the Baal and Ash rah idols and he gained his faith as God showed him his power with the dew and the fleece on the threshing floor and here we are shown what would come by following the Lords word and having faith. You will conquer.

Judges 6:36-40

Judges 6:36-40New International Version (NIV)
36 Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised— 37 look, I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will knowthat you will save Israel by my hand, as you said.” 38 And that is what happened. Gideon rose early the next day; he squeezed the fleece and wrung out the dew—a bowlful of water.
39 Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me. Let me make just one more request. Allow me one more test with the fleece, but this time make the fleece dry and let the ground be covered with dew.” 40 That night God did so. Only the fleece was dry; all the ground was covered with dew.
I was always looking for a sign, always saying “If God just showed me a sign. then I would do this Idea I have” sometimes the sign is the Idea.
Gideon says ok Lord if it’s really me, If I’m going to be the one who saves Israel then I’m going to lay this wool fleece down on the threshing floor, and if there is dew only on the wool then I’ll know It’s me. Now lets remember we learned yesterday that Gideon was raised believing in idle gods, so the one and only God, the God of his forefathers was now calling on him.
The next morning only the wool had dew on it. ok now, alright Lord now your sure it me, so Gideon says don’t get mad but let me ask one more thing , this time dry the fleece and put the dew on the threshing floor.
God has no problem telling us what he wants. we have a problem excepting that someone thinks we’re that great, that we can achieve this important task that we are given, with the gifts that he made us special for.
this passage also shows us that God will never stop showing us that he is here, He has our back. He answered Gideon’s request, to build his faith in God. Remember just the day before Gideon was praising Ba’al.
For the task at hand Gideon needed faith in the Lord God, to be able to allow the Lords spirit to strengthen him where he was weak. To accomplish the task at hand. God wanted to use Gideon, and Gideon wanted to be used.

Now that the intro is done, let’s get into scripture I have been studying the book of Judges I can’t exactly remember how I got to Judges but I am very excited about the things I have learned. At this point I feel like I am unsure some times, like Gideon saying ok Lord if it’s really you do this, show me that,but we will get in to that later.
Judges 6:25-35New International Version (NIV)
25 That same night the Lord said to him, “Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the one seven years old.[a] Tear down your father’s altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole[b] beside it.26 Then build a proper kind of[c] altar to the Lord your God on the top of this height. Using the wood of the Asherah pole that you cut down, offer the second[d] bull as a burnt offering.”
27 So Gideon took ten of his servants and did as the Lord told him. But because he was afraid of his family and the townspeople, he did it at night rather than in the daytime.
28 In the morning when the people of the town got up, there was Baal’s altar, demolished, with the Asherah pole beside it cut down and the second bull sacrificed on the newly built altar!
29 They asked each other, “Who did this?”
When they carefully investigated, they were told, “Gideon son of Joash did it.”
30 The people of the town demanded of Joash, “Bring out your son. He must die, because he has broken down Baal’s altar and cut down the Asherah pole beside it.”
31 But Joash replied to the hostile crowd around him, “Are you going to plead Baal’s cause? Are you trying to save him? Whoever fights for him shall be put to death by morning! If Baal really is a god, he can defend himself when someone breaks down his altar.” 32 So because Gideon broke down Baal’s altar, they gave him the name Jerub-Baal[e] that day, saying, “Let Baal contend with him.”
33 Now all the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoplesjoined forces and crossed over the Jordan and camped in the Valley of Jezreel. 34 Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Gideon, and he blew a trumpet, summoning the Abiezrites to follow him. 35 He sent messengers throughout Manasseh, calling them to arms, and also into Asher, Zebulun and Naphtali, so that they too went up to meet them
Now Gideon was a farmer, his Family were Israelite’s but prayed to false gods Baal and asherah. at this time Midianites were oppressing Israel the Midian army would come and sweep through the crops and the Israelite’s would hardly have a harvest left. The Lord’s angel said to Gideon that he will raise him against the Midianites. Gideon was like not us uh no Lord, we are weak, But God.
Let me walk you through this, Gideon is the 5th Judge he came after Deborah and Barak. Before Gideon could go to the next level the spirit of the Lord told him to Tear down his fathers Alter to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole, then the Angel of the Lord tells him to build a proper Alter to the Lord God ,Higher. Using the wood from the Asherah pole. Also The spirit of the Lord told him to offer the second bull as burnt offerings. When the towns people saw this. (I love this part) they were angry and said to Gideons father: where is your son? he must die for breaking down the alter, so Gideons dad says to them If Baal has a problem let him come and handle it he should be able to defend himself. who ever fights for him shall be put to death. Everyone backed off and called Gideon Jerub baal and said let baal deal with him.
After building the Alter to God and showing his faithfulness The spirit of the Lord came on to Gideon and he Blew his trumpet.
Listen, this is beautiful we can’t just run and do what God wants us to do. He first prepares us so that our hearts and praise is right, Gideon couldn’t go to battle and have an Alter and a pole dedicated to false Gods in his backyard. The Lord wasn’t going to work with that. The Lord God is the only one worthy of High praises. So he said Gideon this is what your going to do and Gideon did it. because he knew that only the Lord can bring them out of the oppression. As he had down many times before
when Gideon sounded the trumpet thru the spirit of the Lord their came his back up now Gideon had the beginning of a strong Army.
Let me take this moment to talk to you guys. When we walk with God we are strong and mighty because the spirit of the Lord is with us. there isn’t any idolizing so basicly you can’t Idolize on what you may have went through as a child, teen or young adult. Now yes some of us have had some really crappy childhoods, but I’m going to tell you something my aunt said to me when I was thirteen. God bless the child that’s got her own, baby you down seen so many downs, you don’t have no where else to go but up.you can’t allow something to have such a control over you that it runs your life.
You can’t not smile and be grateful for your BRAND NEW DAY. to try again, and push hard. I have said this before try something new, and you know what ? when everything in side is giving you cons, then your the Pro, so just do it. You are the reason You were made to be Great you are special. Forget what anyone else says. yeah it’s hard. People are the seen, in the now. God you can’t see. If you believe in Ghost, why isn’t God with you? Why can’t you have his spirit cheering you on? smiling down on you as you work hard on being great. Take a pottery class, write a blog, vocal lesson start a YouTube channel create a hat every day. and Praise God it will be a wonderful hat because the spirit of the Lord helped you create it.

Judges 2:10-15

He is wonderful because if it was not for his love, I would have never made it to be all those things. I am a survivor of depression and oppression until Jesus Christ came into my life and changed it. removed me from my bed and made me busy and redeemed me from my oppression. Praise the Lord. Judges 2:10-15New International Version (NIV)
10 After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. 11 Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals. 12 They forsook the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them. They aroused the Lord’s anger13 because they forsook him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths. 14 In his anger against Israel the Lord gave them into the hands of raiders who plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, whom they were no longer able to resist. 15 Whenever Israel went out to fight, the hand of the Lord was against them to defeat them, just as he had sworn to them. They were in great distress.
After the generation of Joshua’s kids the new Generations of Israelites were coming up. They knew nothing of God and what he did for Israel by this time.( we see this everyday, the children in our generation. look at you like you have two heads when you speak about what Jesus did for us on the cross) they followed and worshiped various gods.( if you go back to the first Judges blog or turn to Judges 2:1-3 and you will find it in verse 3.) and they abandoned GOD breaking the covenant, agreement, deal.
Their abandonment angered God and he allowed their enemies to defeat them they did not have Gods favor while they were praising other Gods, worshiping, Idolizing.
I just wanted to add this bonus scripture. how great is our God? He is a Good Father
Judges 2:16New International Version (NIV)
16 Then the Lord raised up judges,[a] who saved them out of the hands of these raiders.
Even though God was angry with them he still had compassion and raised judges and when the judge died the people would get worse in their evil ways with every generation.
honestly I see it like that now. Turn on the news in any town and you’ll see children shooting up everything, no respect for life. People are fighting in the name of entertainment, scream world star. Not omg someone has been assaulted. Let me say, I am a firm believer that we were not put on this earth to be abused, to be punched in our faces. we shouldn’t be walking down the street worried about if someone is going to slice our faces or shoot us for their pleasures. I pray that the Lord has Mercy on us and walks continuously with us, because at this point only through his good grace that we go untouched.
