1 Samuel Chapter 17

David and Goliath

verse 1 – 11

In these verses we learn that Israel lined up to battle the Philistines. Goliath stepped out at nine feet with a challenge, If any one can kill him then the Philistine’s would be servants of Israel and if he beat the person then Israel would be servant of Philistines. Goliath stated to the men that he was defying and breaking Israel ranks and was challenging any man. His words terrified Saul and his men.

When  I was reading the verses two words came to me spirit. BOASTFUL & FEAR. When we come up against that great challenge in our lives, it may be boastful when we look at it. “You can’t have a financial break through” “Look at me,I am too high of a goal for you to reach” “letting me go! you’ll be nothing without me”. Not being able to do that one great thing, or let go of that one painful thing, will post fear in position to block you. In the scripture Goliath’s main job was to discourage and post fear in position for an attack.

verse 12 – 37

The word says that for forty days Goliath would call out his challenge every morning and every evening. Jesse, Davids father sent him to take somethings to his brothers and to there commander and go back with a report on how everyone was doing. David packed up and took his journey, when he arrived to the camp he saw that the men were on the battle lines and greeted his brothers.

The word says that David then heard Goliath bringing out his challenge. David was told that the king will pay the man who would take the challenge well, for taking down Goliath. David asked “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”  When Davids older brother Eliab heard him speaking to the other men he became angry and told David to go back to his sheep he was just there to watch the battle. What David had said got back to Saul and Saul sent for David.

The word says that David took the challenge. Saul told him that he was just a boy and couldn’t beat a man who had been fighting since his youth. David told Saul that He had to fight lions and bears to get his sheep back. The same God that was with him then is with him now. Saul told David to Go and let the Lord be with him.

I’m sure you seen so many kind of people in these verses. When we are trying to walk in righteousness or just walk in our purpose there are going to be people who think they know your intentions (Eliab) , and then there’s going to be people who will discourage you ( Saul) . It is by faith that we live, the faith that God will come in and move us in his power. The faith that lets us know that we are over comers. David didn’t understand how these men feared Goliath, he asked where is their faith?

verse 38 – 58

The scripture tells us that Saul dressed David up in his tunic and armor, David walked around in it to get a feel but didn’t feel right so he took off everything grabbed five smooth stones and went to meet the Philistine.

When Goliath saw young handsome David he had gotten upset, he began to tell David that he will give him to the birds in the air. David told Goliath that the battle is the Lord’s and the Lord will deliver him into the hands of Israel. The word says Goliath started to rush toward David and David ran to the battle line put his stone in the sling and swung it the stone his Goliath on the forehead and the stone sunk in killing Goliath he fell face down to the ground. David ran up to Goliath took his sword and cut his head off. When the Philistines saw that Goliath was dead, they began to run away in fear and the Israelites began to chase them to Gath. The word says; when Saul saw David kill Goliath he asked his commander “whose son David was” The commander answered by telling Saul that he didn’t know. when David returned to from killing Goliath he was brought to Saul and was asked who his father was. David replied “Your servant Jesse from Bethlehem”

The story of David and Goliath will always be an over comers story. Even  when being discouraged David still went forward. When Saul tried to dress David up in his things, that was like saying David wasn’t good enough. After walking around a bit in Saul’s clothes it didn’t feel right. So what did David do, he took it off and went to the battle as himself. It’s when we bring ourselves to the battle we show God that we have faith in him to do what is needed . Not for our sake but for his sake. So they will know that He is Lord. On the first shot the stone killed Goliath. We have to put the stone in the sling shot and go to the battle line. Taking the faith that God is has created you for this purpose, then take the shot knowing that he is with you.

Now for the important part, If you are looking for  Salvation and don’t know where to start your journey download the free bible app, google or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord believe in your heart that God raise him from the Dead then you shall be saved get yourself in to the habits of building  a sound foundation in faith.

1 Samuel chapter 16

Samuel anoints David

verse 1 – 7

The Lord asked Samuel how long he will mourn for Saul, since he was rejected as king of Israel. The Lord tells Samuel to get himself together, fill his horn with oil and be on his way to Jesse of Bethlehem where the Lord had chosen one of Jesse’s sons to be king.

Samuel said to the Lord. How can I do the Saul will find out and kill me. The Lord tells Samuel to take a heifer with him and say he is going to sacrifice, the  Lord tells Samuel to invite Jesse and his son’s to the sacrifice and the Lord will show him what to do. The Lord tells Samuel that he was to anoint the one the Lord has indicated.

Samuel did as the Lord told him. When Samuel arrived in town the elders greeted him with worry they asked him if he came in peace. Samuel told the people that he had come to sacrifice, he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.

When they arrived Samuel saw Eliab and Samuel thought that the anointed was already there as surely as Eliab was standing. but the Lord told Samuel not to look at his appearance or his height for the He ( the Lord) had rejected Eliab.

In this scripture the Lord says to Samuel how long are you going to mourn Saul. Sometimes when we are working on something and putting our everything into it and it fails we can go into depression not want to do anything else. But the Lord says how long are you going to mourn it. It’s time to get up and do a new thing. was Saul Samuel’s  purpose? no his purpose was to find a king for the people so now he has to fill his horn with oil and get up and find a king.

The same thing applies to us we may be working on something birthing a new thing in our purpose and then it doesn’t work out the way you want it to. The Lord is saying don’t just sit there and soak about what didn’t work, get up and start the next thing until your purpose is fulfilled.

Really quick, I want to touch on Eliab. Samuel saw Eliab and said “the anointed is right there”. I’m sure his mind said the Lord doesn’t need me. The Lord says to him don’t look at his appearance or his height for I have rejected him. We are reminded that we can not look at someones outer appearance or the stories that we heard about them to compare to ourselves we have to go in following instruction and focused on the instruction. looking at someone else will just distract you from what you are suppose to be doing. There is no need to judge on appearance and word we do not know their heart or their walk with God.

verse 8 – 13

Jesse brought seven sons before Samuel, and none of them were the one that the Lord had chosen. Samuel asked Jesse if he had another son and Jesse told him about the youngest that was tending to the sheep. Samuel told him to go get the son they would not sit down until he came. When Jesse’s youngest son walked in the Lord said to Samuel “Rise and anoint him; he is the one” Samuel took the oil from the horn and anointed him in the presence of his brothers and from that day on the spirit of the Lord came upon David. the word says that Samuel then went to Ramah.

Glory to God let me just say this When in a relationship with God it’s important to move when He says. in order for us to be able to move in what the Lord says we need to ask the Lord to purge us of all things that is not of him. Gory God. Had Samuel not been in a relationship with God he would have anointed the wrong brother. when we don’t follow his instruction we end up in the wrong position.

David in Saul’s Service

The spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul and he was tormented with an evil spirit the word says this came from the Lord. Saul’s attendants suggested that he find someone who can play the Harp for him when the Evil spirit comes upon him and this would make him feel better.

Saul sent his attendants to find someone. One of the servants stated that the son of Jesse plays the Harp and then he begins breaking down David’s attributes. The word say that Saul then sent a messenger to Jesse’s house saying “Send me your son David” Jesse loaded a donkey and gifts and sent David on his way.

When Saul saw David he liked him, he made David his armor-bearer and sent Message to Jesse. asking him to allow David to stay, he was pleased with him. The word says that whenever a spirit from God came upon Saul David would play the Harp, Saul would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.

Glory be to God as I was reading this scripture I had to say “Look at God”. We know that Samuel did not want to run in to Saul. we know that when God’s spirit left from Saul it left a spirit Devastation, depression, Hate, Mourn they all laid on Saul he went from nothing to king but what pained him was he didn’t follow God’s instruction and he knew he was rejected as king.

The Lord anointing David before he went in to Saul’s house was a blessing. The power of God was with him. His instructions was to be in positions and follow instructions. To stand in his purpose. (Which we know is to take over as king, for God is not a man that he should lie.)

As we walk through this day let’s remember that on a foundation of faith you stand firm, no matter what you have to go through to get there ( Samuel hands were probably sore, he was tired, he missed his sheep, and arguing with his brothers.) When God is with us, and we stay obedient, we stand in Power. Yeah it’s hard at times, you may even fail as Saul did. But it’s your choice to get up and move on as God told Samuel or be stuck with a spirit that reminds you of your failures. To be soothed by the anointing of the person that will take your place. To love him because he did the one thing that put your mind at ease. Stuck in a spirit is conviction of all your shoulda, coulda, woulda’s Remember to follow instructions God told Samuel “How long are you going to mourn Saul? fill your horn with oil and lets go to the next one”

Now for the important part, If you are looking for Salvation and you want to begin building you foundation on faith Download the free bible app, google , or turn your bibles to Roman 10:9 and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. Start your bible I encourage you to go to this chapter and read it, see what the Lord shows you. A Foundation of faith is built on Prayer, Worship, Word Study, Fellowship and Praise Applying it to your life is staying in position for instructions.

Be Blessed!

1 Samuel Chapter 14

Jonathan attacks the Philistines

Verses 1 – 14

The word says that Jonathan son of Saul went to the young man who cared his armor and said “let’s go to the Philistines outpost” Jonathan did not tell his father where he was going. Saul was on the outskirts of Gibeah of Benjamin with the six hundred men.

Jonathan told the young man that they “will be going to the outpost of the uncircumcised men and perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. nothing can render the Lord from saving either by many or by few.” The armor bearer said to Jonathan ” Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.” Jonathan told the young man ” let’s go, and if they come up to us we will climb up because that will be our sign that the Lord is with us.”

The Philistines saw Jonathan and the young man and told them to come up to us and we will teach you a lesson. Jonathan said to the young man climb up behind me the Lord has given them into the hands of Israel. The word said that Jonathan and his armor bearer killed about twenty men in an area about half an acre.

If you joined into yesterdays study that was a word on faith as Jonathan said no matter how many people are against, if you have faith that God will have favor over you, You will be blessed all you need to do is walk now in faith.

in these verses we see that Jonathan’s faith in God saw him through.

Israel routs the Philistines

verses 15 – 23

The word says Panic struck the whole army and the ground shock it was panic sent by God. Sauls lookout saw the army melting in all directions. saul told one of the men Check everyone and see who has left us. The news came back to him the it was only Jonathan and his armor bearer who was gone.

As Saul was talking to the priest the large volumn of confusion increased in the Philistines camp. Saul prepared his men for battle, even the men who had run off and hid came out with courage. That day the Lord rescued Israel and the battle moved on to Beth Aven.

Sometimes it takes one person to light fire for others to see Gods power. It was the faith that  Jonathan had in God, that brought God into there presence. He didn’t bring the ark, he didn’t a priest, or prophet himself and another faithful man, and God showed up.

When God showed up, so did the courage of others. when we practice Faith others see the reaction. When we show the power of God through our lives and choices our neighbors see, how good God is to us.  This allows them to begin to walk in faith as well.

verse 24 – 48

Jonathan eats honey

The word tells us that the men of Israel was distressed because none of the men had eaten due to Saul bounding them saying, “Cursed is any man who eats before evening comes or I have avenged myself on my enemies”

Jonathan had not been there when Saul told the men not to eat anything. When going through woods the men came to a path were honey was oozing out of honeycombs. Jonathan dipped the end of his staff in it and tasted it, his eyes brightened. One of the men saw this and told Jonathan what his father said. Jonathan responded by stating that his father had made trouble for his country, had the men eaten they would have killed more philistines then they did.

That day after the men had struck down the philistines in Micmash to Aijalon the mean were exhausted the started slaughtering cattle, sheep, calves. the began to eat the meat with the blood. Some one had brought this to the attention of Saul. Saul called his men and told them to bring the cattle and sheep to him and they will slaughter them and eat them. Saul for the first time build an alter after everyone had slaughtered and ate. Afterward Saul told everyone lets go down after the philistines by night and plunder them to dawn, and lets not leave one of them alive. the people replied do whatever seems best to you. The priest intervened and said let’s inquire of God here.

Saul asked God but did not get a reply Saul then asked who had commited a sin, no one came forward so Saul cast the lots and the men where cleared then Saul cast lots between he and Jonathan and Jonathan was taken. Saul asked Jonthan what he had done and jonathan tld him about tasting the honey and then asked. “Must I die?” The men stepped in and said to Saul he the one who has brought the great deliverance?  The men said as long as the Lord lives not a hair on his head shall fall, for he did this today with God’s help. with that Jonathan was not put to death.

Saul stopped pursuing the Philistines, and the went back to there own lands. After Saul had went to rule over Israel he fought their enemies on every side and delivered Israel from the hands who plundered them.

we are reminded where we stand when we walk in faith and in Gods presence. Jonathan showed faith in God through action and I believe God spared his life through the people speaking up.

Through Saul we are reminded of patience and to wait on God. Because saul had not heard from God when he wanted an answer he decided to start casting lots and making decisions. God sparing Jonathan’s life through showed God very much present it just wasn’t time to do what Saul wanted to do and he had to wait.

There will be times when you will get part of the instructions  but then you will wait and in that wait you should be preparing. It’s when we rush without waiting on God’s next set instruction, we began to drop faith and work through our own heart. Obedience in faith is what gets you to the next level.

Now for the Important part If you are looking for Salvation and would like to begin to build your foundation of faith. Google, download the free bible app or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. Begin to build your foundation with Studying the word; worship and praise; prayer; and fellowship. Be Blessed.

Let’s look at this day as another God given opputunity to get it right, to work on the things that we want to be great at. Lets allow God to purge us, and fill us up with his anointing, in hopes that we can pass the glory of God on to our neighbors.

1 Samuel Chapter 13

Samuel rebukes Saul

verses 1 – 15

When Saul became king he was thirty years old and he served for forty- two years. Saul built his army by selecting Three thousand men from Israel. two thousand of them were with him in Micmash and in the hill country of Bethel. The word says  a thousand men were with Jonathan at Gibeah in Benjamin. The rest of the men were sent back to their homes.

The word says that Jonathan attacked the Philistines outpost. Saul had the trumpets blown and sent out a message to the Hebrews that the Philistines were attacked and Israel now has become a stench to the philistines. The people were summoned to be with Saul in Gilgal.

Philistine prepared to fight Israel with Thousands of chariots, Charioteers, and as many soldiers as the sand on the seashore. They went up and camped at Micmash. When the men of Israel saw that Philistine was ready to attack the became scared. Some hid in caves and others crossed the Jordan river. Saul stayed in Gilgal, the soldiers that were with him were terrified. Saul waited the seven days that Samuel told him to wait, Samuel didn’t  go to Gilgal and Saul’s men scattered. Saul told some one to bring him the burnt offering and just as soon as he finished making the offering Samuel arrived and Saul went to greet him.

Samuel asked Saul what he had done? and Saul replied that when the men where leaving, and Samuel hadn’t come at the time he said he would, plus Philistines were coming he felt compelled to seek Gods favor.

Samuel tells Saul that he did not keep the Lords command, if he had the Lord would have established his Kingdom. The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him leader of his people. because you didn’t keep his command. Samuel left and Saul took count of his men which came up to six hundred.

These fifteen verses reminds me that it can seem that the enemy may out number us, and bring fear that everything we kn ow will crumble. It is faith in knowing that God will provide that we should walk with. We can’t go oh my, the lights will be cut off let me now repent, and pray so that the Lord will fix it. God know our hearts he knows when we are coming to him just for satisfactions.

When Saul prepared the burnt offering himself it was like he was saying the Lords time has come and passed and Samuel isn’t here so I’m going to have to do it myself. We can not give our obstacles to the Lord and then say let me do it myself. That’s like saying God isn’t Sovereign. It’s having faith that we serve a Sovereign God, and his time is right on time. Glory to God.

verse 16 -22

Israel without weapons

Saul, his son Jonathan and the men all stayed in Gibeah in Benjamin. There were no blacksmiths to be found in Israel, the word says the Philistines said ” Otherwise the Hebrews will make swords or spears.” all Israel went down to Philistine to have there weapons and tools sharpen. On the day of battle the only men with weapons were Saul and Jonathan.

While we look back on chapter 13 we see that it is faith that keeps us in Gods instructions. verses 16-22 shows us that our faith will be tested. If we look at the fact that only Saul and his son Jonathan had weapons. What does your faith tell you? My Faith tells me that even with two people with weapons, God has the Power to bring favor over them against thousands of men. We serve a God that is Sovereign over all things including our enemies including that thing that is preparing to attack you.

Today Meditate on how you can practice faith. When you start to stress ask God for instructions and allow him to prepare your path. Know that you serve a Sovereign God rest in your foundation of faith practice building your faith.

Now for the Important part, If you are looking for Salvation and will like to start building your foundation download the free bible app, google, or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead. Build your faith by studying the word of God, Worshiping and praise, prayer and fellowship.

Be Blessed

1 Samuel Chapter 8

verse 1- 5

The word tells us that as Samuel grew old he appointed his sons as judges and they served at Beersheba. His sons did not walk  in the presence of God as Samuel did so they began profiting from the position of judges by excepting bribes, dishonesty, and lying in the name of justice.

The elders of Israel came to Samuel and told him that his sons did not walk with God and he himself had become old, so he needed to pick a leader. He would need to appoint a king as the other nations did.

When going over the verses I thought about how as a parent we look to our children to walk just as we showed them. We forget that when God gave us free will, he also gave the same gift to our children when they were born. We expect to them to do right but sometimes they make the wrong decision and become total opposites of who and what we are.

verse 6 – 9

The word says that when the people came to Samuel about a king leading them the news was unpleasing to him. So he went and prayed to the Lord about it. The word says the Lord told Samuel that the people weren’t rejecting Samuel  but was rejecting God as the have been doing since he brought them out of Egypt by forsaking God and serving other gods. The Lord tells Samuel to warn the people of what will happen when they are under a king.

In these verses we are reminded that when it comes to dealing with fleshly emotions it is always best to go in to prayer before making decisions. Because  Samuel wasn’t emotionally feeling at peace with what the people of Israel had requested he went to the Lord to see if the Lord was okay with it.

The Lord told him to do what the people asked. In our walk toward building a foundation of faith we know that God will let us learn the hard way it makes the saying ” I can show you, better than I can tell you” come to life. God has a way of doing this in God and bad times. we can feel the effects of doing the wrong and we can feel the blessings when we do the right thing ( Which is always come to Him and know no matter what He’s got you).

Verse 10 – 21

Samuel told the People what the Lord wanted them to know about having a king, He explained to them that they would have to give 10% of everything they bring in. Their children will be slaves to the king and would have to be in war or cooking and baking in the kings home.

The people still wanted a king. Samuel went back and told Lord and the Lord told Samuel to give them a king.

Seeing what others have can make a person not see the truth of the effects. In the case of the people of Israel they were warned of what was to come with a king but still thought it was batter then what they had.

Have you ever had a job and only saw the things you disliked about, then get a new job and realize those things were nothing compared to what your dealing with now. The people of Israel made their decisions on their fleshly emotions had they had a relationship with God they would have went to the Lord before making a decision based on the anger of what Samuel’s sons were doing.

As you go about your day  try to with hold from reacting with your flesh if something comes up and makes your blood boil try to withhold from reacting. Pray on it and allow the Holy Spirit to give you your response.

Be blessed

Now for the Important part; If you are looking for SALVATION and would like to begin to build a relationship with the Lord. Download the free bible app; google; or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and God raised him from the dead you shall be saved. get into the word and begin to build a foundation of faith.

I Samuel Chapter 7

Blessings Everyone,

I Pray that you all are in the presence of God, that he is walking with you and guiding your decisions everyday. To my followers thank you for you support and sharing the word of Lord with me. If you are new to the bible study blog welcome thanks for joining in let me introduce myself,

I Samuel Chapter 7

Verse 1 – 4

The Ark was in Kiriath Jearim for twenty years, all the people mourned and sought after the Lord. Samuel said to the house of Israel ” If you are returning to the Lord with all your hearts, then rid yourself of foreign gods and the ashtoreths and comment yourselves to the Lord and serve him only, and he will deliver you out if the hands of the Philistines. The Israelites put away there Baals and Ashtoreths and served the Lord only.

when we come to the point in our life when we know that there is no way but Gods way we need to get in the place of letting go of all things that are not of God. the things that we put before a relationship with him. Samuel tells the house of Israel that you have to let those things go if you want God to come in and be your provider and your protector you must allow him in all parts of your life. Samuel tells the house of Israel that if you want to RETURN to the Lord you’ll have to give all your heart and remove foreign gods.

verse 5- 11

Samuel tells the house of Israel to assemble all Israel at Mizpah, they poured out water to the Lord, fasted and confessed their sins to the Lord. Samuel lead the people at Mizpah. When the Philistines heard that the Israelite’s were at Mizpah the rulers came up to attack the Israelites. When the Israelites heard what was going on they were afraid, they asked Samuel not to stop crying out to the Lord on their behalf so that the Lord would rescue them from the hands of the philistines. Samuel took a baby lamb and offered it up to the Lord as a whole burnt offering. while Samuel was offering the sacrifice the philistines came near to battle with the Israelites. The Lord let out a loud thunder that scared the philistines. The men of Israel pursued the philistines and slaughtered down to Beth Car.

As I read these verses I couldn’t help but think of the sacrifice of the lamb. It reminds me of Jesus’s sacrifice to save us. It’s when we ask for forgiveness and give our whole heart to God, he steps in and protects and provides for us.

verse 12- 16

Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named the it Ebenezer and stated “Thus far the Lord has helped us” The Philistines were subdued and did not invade the Israelites again.

As long as Samuel lived the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines. The towns from Ekron to Gath which the philistines had captured from Israel had been returned to her, Israel delivered neighbors from power of the philistines, and there were peace between the Israelites and the Amorites.

Samuel continued to be the judge over all the days of his life. Year to year he went from Bethel to Gilgal to Mizpah judging Israel in all those places. He always went back to Ramah were his home was, and there he also judged Israel. And he built an alter there to the Lord.

When we think of  a Judge we know that it’s the person who was sent to be our intercessor, the one who will go to the Lord on our behalf and past judgement for the people of God. When we start our walk with God and begin to build our relationship assignments are put into our life. Samuel was walking in his assignment being available to God’s people when they needed him.

Praise God! Think about the moment Samuel sacrificed the lamb. The people of Israel was sacred but knew that they had to return to the one true and living God. They through out their idols and gave it all to God. when was the moment you allowed God to have it all?

Now for the important part; If you are looking for salvation and would like to know where to start. download the free bible app, google, or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe with your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. get yourself in to the word and build a relationship and a foundation of faith that will take you a mighty long way. Be Blessed

I Samuel Chapter 6

(If you haven’t read the blogs on chapters 1-5 please do and catch up to us)

Verse 1- 6

The Ark of the Lord had been in Philistine for seven months, the philistines called priests and diviners together to figure out what to do about the Ark of the Lord and how to send it back to where it belongs. The priest answered them telling the philistines that they should not send the Ark back empty but with guilt offerings. The philistines asked what guilt offerings should be sent back, they were told five gold tumors and five gold rats. this represented the tumors and rats that were destroying there country. This should be done in hopes that God would lift his hand from their people.

In the earlier chapters we learned that the Ark was captured by the philistines after the Israelite’s took it with them in hopes of being prosperous in a war. After the Ark was captured the Philistines were plagued with tumors on their bodies. After misfortune in five cities they were more than ready to send the ark back in hopes of survival.

Verse 7-12

The priest told the philistines to get a cart and put two mother cows and take away the calves. Put the Ark of the Lord on the cart, then put the gold tumors and rats in a chest behind it. The priest told the philistines if the cart goes up to Beth She-mesh, then it was the Lord who has brought the disaster on them, if it doesn’t go toward Beth She-mesh then the Lord had nothing to do with it.The philistines did as the priest told them to do, and the cart went straight to Beth shemesh the rulers of philistine followed them to the border of Beth Shemesh.

So the priest told the philistines to give God  an offering of gold idols of their misfortune and then see where the cart takes the Ark. The cart goes straight to Beth Shemesh displaying the power of the God of Israel. This showed the philistines the power of God.

Verse 13 – 21

The people of Beth Shemesh were harvesting wheat when they saw the cart with the Ark coming they were happy at the sight of the Ark. The Ark stopped at a large rock. The people chopped up the wood of the cart and sacrificed the cows as burnt offerings to God. The rulers of Philistine saw them sacrifice the cows as an offerings and returned to Ekron the same day.

The word says that the Gold tumors represented the cities that suffered while the Ark was among them (Ashdod, Gaza, Ashkelon, and Ekron). The Large rock that the Ark was placed on served as a witness in the field of Joshua of Beth she-mesh.

The Lord struck some men in Beth She-mesh because they had looked inside the Ark. The people were in mourning and didn’t want the Ark in their presence, so the sent a messenger to Kiriath Jearim to come get it. The men of Kiriath Jearim went to Beth Shemesh and retrieved the ark. They took the Ark to Abinadab’s house and consecrated Eleazer his son to guard the Ark of the Lord.

The  Ark was not to be looked inside of or the would die (Numbers 4:20) only the Levites were allowed to move the Ark. The men of Beth Shemesh died do to their disobedience and the Lord carried out his judgement.

when we think of the presence of God we know that his love and power is with us. this book is in the old testament and Jesus did not come down to dwell among the people yet. we are blessed to be able to be forgiven and not die from God’s judgement. It’s important for us to be pleasing to God in our christian walk it is apart of the foundation of faith. If we know that the Lord has said don’t go left and we go left then we are to expect that we will have consequences in not heeding to the word of the Lord. Make sure when youb are walking this life to follow instructions in the direction that you need to go. yes! we fall short at times but just like the men of Kiriath Jearim came and brought the Ark to Abinadabs house the Lord will send someone who is able to place you were you belong.

Now for the most Important part If you are looking for salvation and to be in the presence of the Lord. Download the free bible app, google, or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 and confess with your mouth and believe with your heart that Jesus is Lord and that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. get in to a daily ritual of reading the word of the Lord and allow the presence of God to fill your life. Be Blessed.

1 Samuel Chapter 5

1-samuel-1024x576the Ark in Ashdod and Ekron

verse 1 -5

The Philistines took the Ark to Ashdod and the put it in Dagons temple. the scripture says that the next morning Dagon had fallen  on his face in front of the Ark. They placed Dagon back in his place and the next day he had fallen again this time his head and hands had been broken off and placed on the threshold. The scipture says that no one steps on the threshold in Dagons temple.

Praise God! to put a representative of God in a place where you worship Idols, no way your coming back from that. As I was reading this word I thought about how it is not good to  sit on the fence when it comes to our walk with God. We can’t be out to serve God and walk with him and do the things that the Lord is not for. I remember when I first started this walk and I was still smoking and drinking wine, I one day had a vision of the holy spirit leaving me because I couldn’t let go of the cigarettes I was placing the cigarettes (my idol) over God and forcing God to be around it. Then I prayed for the need for it to be broken from my spirit and that’s exactly what happen. The next day the desire for the cigarettes were gone. When we idolize something and put it before God, our faith and need to be pleasing to God allows the spirit to come and break that thing. it’s built on a foundation of faith that he is able. The fact that the Philistines feared God was acknowledgment that they had faith that he does exist, and can destroy them.

verse 6 – 12

While the Ark of God was in Ashdod the hand of God was heavy on the people. Some ended up with tumors and others died so they decided to move it to Gath. In Gath it did the same, so the people got together with the elders and they decided to take it to Ekron when the people of Ekron saw that the Ark was coming and there was an out cry. The elders decided to send the Ark back. The people of Gath, Ekron, and Ashdod died and for those who didn’t die they suffered with tumors. The cry went up to heaven.

This chapter makes me think of the power of God in chapter four yesterday we saw that when the Israelites learned that the Ark had been captured the suffered an outcry. Eli and his family suffered death, they felt that God had left them. depending on the power of God as christians when we fell he’s not around we feel lost like Israelites. Now for the Philistines they worshipped Dagon and feared God The power that the Ark had on them was afflicting tumors and death. They new they were doing wrong taking the Ark of God, and almost expected repercussions.

Now for the Important part if you are looking for Salvation if you will like to start a new and be in the presence of God turn your bible, google, or download the free bible app and turn to Romans 10:9 Confess with your mouth that Jesus christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. start a prayer life and get in to the word and allow the Lord to turn it around for you.

1 Samuel Chapter 4

The Pallestines capture the Ark

verse 1 -4

Here we learn that Iraelites and Philistines went to war. In this war the Philistines killed about four thousand of them on the battlefield.when the Israelites went back the elders asked them why did the Lord bring defeat upon them? They decided to bring the Ark from shiloh and Eli’s sons Hophni and Phinehas came along with the Ark.

verse 5 – 10

This verse tells us that when the Ark was brought in to the camp irael let out a shout so big that the ground shock, When the Phlistines heared the sound they wondered what was going on in the camp of the Israelites. When they found out that the Ark of the Lord was brought in they began fear saying the gods were broiught to the camp, the gods that put the Eygptians through plagues. they begain to encourgage each other, reminding there people that they are strong and trained. The Philistines won that war they killed thirty thousand soldiers and took the Ark. Hophni and Phinehas was dead at the end of it all.

Death of Eli

The day that the Ark was captured a Benjamite came running in to Shiloh to deliver the news when Eli heard the cries he asked what was going on. He was told that his sons were dead and the Ark of the Lord was captured. When recieving the news Eli fell broke his neck and was dead. The bible tells us that Eli was an old heavy man and the fall was what killed him. Now Phinehas wife was close to delivery in her pregnacy and when she heard that Eli had died she went in labor but didn’t mack it out because the pain of labor became to much for her to bare. Before she died she named her son Ichabod she stated the glory of the Lord had departed from Israel, because the Ark of the Lord had been captured.

Blessed the Lord, the word of the Lord had come through. The Lord said that no one in Eli’s family would grow old. Eli had allowed the Ark of the Lord to leave Shiloh and he worried about it’s return, As if it was the spirit of the Lord himself. he died thinking that the Glory of the Lord had left his people, his daugher died the same way. Here is something to think about. God isn’t in a thing he is with us, as he walked the garden of eden. lets not put our faith in a cross around our necks or and alter that we built in our homes. Lets put our faith in The spirit of God which is with us.

Be Blessed

1 Samuel Chapter 3

1-samuel-1024x576

The Lord calls Samuel

This is a short chapter but the important that is holds is big

The verse begins to tell us that In a time where there was no vision or visitations from the Lord. Eli was now getting old and could night see well. He was laying in his usual spot and Samuel was laying in the temple. The Lord called Samuel’s name three and each time Samuel went to Eli and asked if he was calling him. Each time Eli said that he wasn’t calling him, the last time Eli realized that it was the Lord calling Samuel. Eli told Samuel the next time that he hears his name being called to answer speak Lord, for your servant is listening.

Samuel went to lay down and the Lord stood before him and called his name, and Samuel answered speak, your servant is listening. The Lord began to tell Samuel that the time will come when Eli’s family will have to deal with him due to the wrong behavior of Eli’s son and the failure of Eli to not stop them.

The next morning Eli asked Samuel what the Lord had said to him and not to hold anything back. Samuel did as he was told and after Eli said to Samuel “He is Lord; let him do what is good in his eyes”.

Samuel grew up in the presence of the Lord and he let none of the Lords words fall to the floor. All that new Samuel recognized him as the Lords Prophet.

Some of us are waiting to hear the Lords voice, waiting to get instuctions of our assignment. When the Lord calls on you will you let his word fall to the floor or will you say ” Speak Lord, your servant is listening.”
