Genesis Chapter 26- Isaac and Abimelek

Blessings and Light everyone!

We are coming along pretty good with the book of Genesis. The most important part for me is to keep going. I have enjoyed every bit of the experience. I can tell you reading the book at this moment in my life, I see with different eyes. I am able to experience the relationship between God the Most High Creator and Abraham.

The trust, the expectations, the loyalty. People saw the love that God had for Abraham. God multiplied Abraham in many ways, when people saw Abraham they said His God loved him.

That’s the place that we would like to be. That’s the trusting relationship that God wants with us. Catch up with Let’s Feast !!!

Okay lets get in to Genesis Chapter 26 #letsfeast!

This chapter starts off letting us know that there is famine in the land after Abraham has passed away. God went to Isaac and said that he will bless him and his descendants because of his covenant with Abraham. God told Isaac not to move Egypt and so Isaac stayed in Gerar.

Just as when his father started to get established he worried that men would try to kill him because of his beautiful wife. He told the men of Gerar that Rebekah was his sister. Abimelek looked down from a window and saw Isaac Caressing Rebekah. Abimelek went to Isaac as he did Abraham and asked him why would he try to put Grief on his people.

Isaac came with nothing but the truth, he said I was afraid that someone would kill me for my wife. Abimelek stated to his people that no one was to touch or harm Isaac or his wife will be put to death.

The word says that Isaac planted crops and in the same year reap a hundred fold. God Multiplied Isaac as he did his father. Isaac’s wealth continued to grow. This growth began to draw attention from the philistines and they began to get upset and filled all the wells that Abraham dug with dirt. Abimelek went to Isaac and told him that he needed to leave because he has gotten to powerful for their community.

Isaac packed up and left and went to the valley of Gerar. Isaac’s servants dug a hole for a well and found fresh water but the herders said that it was theirs. The moved along and found another spot and dug up the hole and found ore fresh water and the herders said that was theirs as well.

They went a bit further and found more water that no one claimed and so Isaac gave praise to God for giving them an area with more room to flourish. The lord came to Isaac that night and in the morning Isaac built an alter.

Once Isaac got settled in Abimelek comes to him with his advisor and Isaac says why have you come didn’t you just kick me out? Abimelek says that he sees that the Lord is with Isaac and wanted to have a treaty that Isaac won’t harm them and they wont harm them.

Isaac created a feast, the ate and drank and the next morning made an oath. Isaac’s servants found water and that spot is still Beersheba.
