Becoming Light: Genesis Chapter 19; Sodom is Destroyed

I hope you had a great week and enjoying your hump day.

So I was super busy trying to play catch up that I didn’t get a chance to record the podcast or write this blog.

Today I managed to record in my car and I am writing this blog at my desk looking like I’m doing important company work. Father forgive me. Lol

This episode was another level of knowledge more like a dark knowledge. Last week we ended off with Abraham asking God if he would spare the people of Sodom I’d he found a certain amount of righteous people. God said he would.

Now remember while Abraham was speaking to God the angels that was with God went ahead to Sodom.

This chapter starts off when the angels arrived lot met them at the gate. He right away offered them a place to rest their heads until morning. The angels refused but lot insisted.

Lot prepared a feast for the angels with wine. The word says the men young and old surrounded lots house to get to the men.

Lot went out side and tried to reason with the men, he tried to convince them to do what they wanted to his daughters but leave the men alone.

The men of Sodom in turned reminded lot that he was there temporarily. He too was a visitor. The men then proceeded to try to get through lot to the door. The word says the Angels pulled lot in and made all the men blind.

The Angels told Lot to let his people (his family) know That God was about to destroy Sodom so they need to get out. Lot told his son in laws but they didn’t believe him, they thought he was joking.

The next morning the Angels told Lot he had to leave. The word says Lot took his time lingering around. The Angels took Lots hand his wife’s hand and his daughters hand and took them out the city. Told them to keep going so they aren’t effected.

God proceeded to destroy Sodom with fire from the sky. The word tells us lots wife looked back in disobedience and turned into a Pilar of salt.

Lot and his Daughters got to Zoar where Lot requested to go but lot didn’t feel safe so he went in a Cave with his two daughters.

The daughters living alone with their father noticed that he was getting old and there wasn’t any men around for them. They decided to get their father drunk and lay with him.

The oldest daughter conceived a son Moab (from father) and the second daughter conceived a son Ben Ammi (son of my people.

The word says that Moab will be the father of the moabites and Ben the father of the Ammonites.

Now that I have gotten that out, what y’all think about that? God is destroying a sinful town in the beginning, he spares Lot and lots family because of his relationship with Abraham. If you don’t know what that is, that’s everything attached to me wins.

I’m sure we also see that God destroyed Sodom due to their sinful nature and out of Sodom came Lots wife who looked back and daughters who felt the need to take things into there own hands and conceived with there father.

Again we learn it’s when we take things into our own hands we go and do things we have no business doing .

I believe Lots daughters must have thought every where had burned. That they were the only ones alive.

This is the first time I really paid attention to this detail and it has red flagged the Moabites and the Ammonites for further study. What kind of people are they.

Becoming Light: Genesis Chapter 18

Blessings and Light everyone I pray that you all are being great and moving in the best versions of yourself. this weeks study comes from Genesis chapter 18. Lets Feast!

The Birth of Isaac Promised

This chapter had some great add ons that we already know about. These are the things that we put in the back of our minds. The chapter starts out with Abraham relaxing at the door of his tent and he sees 3 men in the far distance. The word says that Abraham ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed down.

Abraham knew God, the bible tells us that His sheep knows his voice. We should have a relationship with God that we know his walk. We know when He is with us. Some of us wait for a big boom before we acknowledge he is with us. In a relationship you should know by the aroma; the walk and his voice.

Abraham then offered the men rest with water to clean there feet and a good meal, Abraham went and picked a tender calf for them and prepared it. He called Sarah to prepare bread and then he served the men under the tree.

Are you willing to rush out and prepare your best for God? This was a issue for Cain, he wasn’t ready to give God his best. To make his sacrifice with what God had given him. When we take our lesson from Abraham we are saying God these are the things that you have blessed me with, sit and enjoy them with me. We ask God for a house but have we prepared a place for God in our house. Will we give him what he gave us.

The word goes on to say that the Lord asked Abraham where was Sarah, God said by this time next year Sarah will have a son. Sarah listening Laughed, at her old age have a baby. The Lord asked Abraham why did Sarah laugh is anything to difficult. Sarah denied laughing. The Lord said to her you did!

Can we admit that there is no secret you can keep from God and there is no limit to what God can do. Sarah had to learn this herself this is a lesson that we will have to learn. We still think that we can hide from God. One thing I have learned over the years was instead of hiding and denying ask God for understanding and help. Somethings are meant for Gods understanding but he will comfort you in the process and delight in your presence while you are in the process. Most importantly in the process watch God prove all doubt wrong.

Once the Lord and the angelic beings were done the angels left toward Sodom and Abraham and the lord finished speaking. The creator decided to tell Abraham that he was going to Sodom and Gomorrah to see about the sin and wickedness. Abraham then started to ask God about the righteous people that are there and will he spare them. with and understanding and love God agreed that he would not strike if there was 10 righteous people.

This part I always found funny, but the truth is God wants us to ask for others he wants us to look for our brothers and sisters. We live in a time of selfishness I pray that there is someone praying God spare me as well. It’s important to raise your household righteous when I say righteous I mean in a relationship with God.

I stand corrected

Yesterday I posted my “I’m back post”. Well, it was all good if it was accurate. After I looked back at the previous post I realized that the podcast was way behind, not the blog😔

My first baby this blog has been laying dormant waiting on me to get my act together and get back on target.

And what do I do? Post a podcast on a chapter that Journey In Praise Bible study has already completed 🤦🏾‍♀️
